HDCS is guided by the Four Foundations of How Does Learning Happen?

Halton Day Care Services (HDCS) is a licensed home child care agency operating in Halton Region. We offer families a local alternative to Child Care Centres by providing a network of licensed homes that offer home child care with qualified providers.

HDCS contracts these providers to provide child care services in their own home. We ensure that providers complete a comprehensive screening and training process.  Only the most qualified and competent child care providers are admitted into our agency.

We are licensed by the Ministry of Education to help families find the right child care program for their most valuable treasure; their children.  At HDCS, we provide high quality home child care in partnership with parents and providers by creating an atmosphere where children can live safely, learn daily and grow continually. HDCS firmly believes that early learning experiences are the foundation of a child’s growth and development.

Halton Day Care Services (HDCS) is committed to:

PROGRAMS

Our programs parallel that of the School Board Curriculum by adopting a play -based learning system to our programs. Children are encouraged to explore and discover their environment while maintaining their individual uniqueness. Our policies and procedures are in direct compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act.

BELONGING

HDCS is regulated under The Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) 2014. The CCEYA sets out a shared understanding of How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH) Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.

Subsidized child care may be available. Click to learn more.

Belonging refers to a sense of connectedness to others,an individual’s experiences of being valued, of forming relationships with others and making contributions as part of a group, a community, the natural world.

Well-being addresses
the importance of physical and mental health and wellness. It incorporates capacities such as self- care, sense of self, and self-regulation skills.

Engagement suggests a state of being involved and focused. When children are able to explore the world around them with their natural curiosity and exuberance, they are fully engaged and they develop skills such as problem solving, creative thinking, and innovating.

Expression or communication (to be heard, as well as to listen) may take many different forms. Through their bodies, words, and use of materials, children develop capacities for increasingly complex communication.

ENGAGEMENT

EXPRESSION

At HDCS we believe that every child is competent, capable of complex thinking, curious, rich in potential and are integral components to a strong family unit.

WELL BEING

  • Promoting the emotional, social and cognitive development of children
  • Supporting children’s learning, health and well-being through our play-based early learning environments.
  • Encouraging active high quality learning experiences through exploration
  • Partnering with our families, child care providers and community to create a living, learning and growing environment where children are fully engaged, demonstrate a strong sense of belonging, of well-being and are fully able to express themselves

“It’s our today, but their tomorrow.”
